The Red List of Endangered Birds

I see part of my role as a writer to give voice to those who have no voice. The Red List is an internationally recognised list of the most endangered birds: those facing the real possibility of extinction. Some may already have gone. As one reads the list there are depressingly similar tales behind the struggle these creatures face (environmental depredation, climate change, hunting, pollution). Some of us have the voice, others do not. As with economics, so with the natural world: those who can least fight their case will suffer the greatest.

Follow the tabs on the drop down menus for the poems (sometimes things like Kindle don’t do this well – I’m on it…).

  1. Your 2 poems about the Corncrakes are especially special…(I see I have also posted an unintentional alliteration; but as a poet you won’t mind :))
